Ask anyone who flies private what they are really buying and the answer is rarely the cabin.
It is the Thursday game they did not miss. It is the flight home where the kids sat across from them instead of three rows back, talking the whole way. Private aviation is a productivity purchase before it is a luxury one.
So the real question is not which jet you want. It is which program fits the way you already travel. There are three ways to fly with us: private jet charter, Jet Club membership and fractional jet ownership. Picking the right one mostly comes down to answering one question honestly.
How to Choose Between Private Jet Programs
If you take a few trips a year, you want flexibility and no commitment. If you fly twenty or thirty times a year, you want locked rates and access you can count on. If you fly enough that the airplane shows up on a balance sheet, you want the potential tax advantage of ownership.
Here is how the three flyExclusive programs line up.

Private Jet Charter: The Flexible Choice
Think of private jet charter as flying on your schedule, one trip at a time. You only pay for the flights you take.
Chartering works best when your travel comes in bursts. Maybe there is a wedding in Charleston, then months of nothing. Maybe there is a house you get to twice a year, or a deal that puts you in three cities before Thursday. Whatever the case, a jet charter provides flexibility.
Trips are priced point to point, not round trip. That comes from founder Jim Segrave, who pioneered the one way, floating fleet model in private aviation. You only pay for what you fly. If you were to spend four days in Nantucket, you would pay for the flight out and the flight back, not for the two empty legs in between while the aircraft repositions.
At flyExclusive, charter also provides two aircraft types that can get you closer to where you are going. The Land Caravan is perfect for short, regional Florida trips and the Bahamas. The Seaplane Caravan is the same cabin on floats, which means water becomes the runway. It leaves from airports across South Florida and lands directly in the Bahamas with no runway on the other end. It can even pull alongside your yacht in open water, so you step off the plane and onto the deck.
Booking one trip does not mean going it alone, either. Our Member Services team handles the itinerary, the catering and the car on the ramp, the same as it would for a member.
Choose charter if you fly a few times a year, your plans change often, and you would rather not put money down up front.
Jet Club Private Jet Membership: More Flights, More Value
Jet Club is our private jet membership and flagship program. You deposit funds into a prepaid travel account that pays for exactly what you fly. Your rates are also locked for 24 months. Every time you replenish, the clock resets. If you have looked at jet cards before, the idea will feel familiar.
We recently redesigned Jet Club to provide simpler pricing and increased program flexibility. The program runs on a day rate model, so you are charged a day rate for each day you use the aircraft, plus an hourly rate for the hours you fly. That day rate is less than half the industry average. There is no monthly membership fee and no charge for taxi time. You will not find de-icing fees, fuel surcharges, or landing and repositioning charges buried at the back of a quote. Also, your deposited funds do not expire.
The day rate and the hourly rate keep the cost of membership easy to follow, because the cost of your trip is the math you would do in your head. It is the smarter way to fly private.
Choose Jet Club if you fly often enough that rate certainty and guaranteed access are worth more to you than staying uncommitted.
Fractional Jet Ownership: Own a Share of a Private Jet
Fractional jet ownership is ownership without the added expenses of managing your own aircraft. You buy a share of an aircraft, you get guaranteed hours every year, and your share counts as a depreciable asset.
Shares start at 6.25 percent, which comes with 50 guaranteed hours a year. We use the same day rate model here, so no management fee builds up while the aircraft sits on the ground. You pay for flying, not for parking.
Your share is not tied to one airplane when you fly, either. It gives you access to the full fleet, so each trip you can choose the Light, Mid or Super Mid jet that fits it. A quick trip with two people and a cross-country trip with the whole family do not have to happen in the same cabin.
For a lot of frequent flyers, this is where private aviation stops being an expense line and becomes a business decision. The cost of fractional ownership is worth modeling out with your accountant.
Choose fractional if you fly enough hours to justify the capital, and the tax and asset treatment matter to your situation.
Private Jet Broker or Operator: The Part People Forget to Compare
Most people compare private jet programs. Fewer compare operators, and the operator matters more.
A private jet broker arranges your flight on an aircraft it does not own, with a crew it does not employ. That is common in this industry. It is not how we work.
We hold our own certificate and fly our own fleet of about 80 aircraft. Our mechanics are our people, working in our hangars, where maintenance, paint and avionics all happen under one roof. Our pilots are full-time and type rated to the specific aircraft they fly, trained beyond the FAA standard, with captains rechecked every six months. That work shows up in our safety ratings. Our top-tier safety certifications through ARGUS, Wyvern and IS-BAO reflect our relentless commitment to a culture of safety, risk management and operational excellence across every part of the business.
The practical version of all that is simple. The aircraft that arrives is the one we promised. The crew works for the company that sold you the trip. Book a departure for ten o'clock and you leave at ten o'clock.
Whichever program you choose, you are choosing the same operation behind it.
Still deciding which private jet program is right for you?
The easiest way to figure out what program is best for you is to look at your travel last year. Start by counting the trips you took, then count the ones you talked yourself out of because flying commercial made them more trouble than they were worth.
That second number is the one worth paying attention to.
Bring both to us and we will walk through what each program would look like for a year like yours. When you are ready, start the conversation with our team.
Private Jet Membership and Ownership FAQs
- What is the difference between Jet Club and fractional ownership? flyExclusive’s Jet Club is a deposit toward flight time, so you are buying access and locked rates rather than an asset. Fractional ownership is the purchase of a share in an aircraft, which comes with guaranteed hours. With Jet Club, your deposit goes to work as flight credit. With fractional, your capital goes into an asset, which may open up depreciation benefits worth reviewing with your accountant.
- What is the difference between a jet card and Jet Club membership? The two work much the same way. Both start with a deposit toward flight time that you draw down as you fly. Jet card is the industry term for the model. Many of those programs charge an annual fee or put an expiration date on unused funds. flyExclusive’s Jet Club has no monthly membership fee and your deposit does not expire. The label matters less than the terms, so read those closely before you commit.
- How much does it cost to fly private? It depends on the program more than the jet, start by requesting a quote. Charter is quoted trip by trip and priced point to point. flyExclusive Jet Club starts at a $100,000 deposit and Jet Club Plus at $200,000. That deposit is flight credit rather than a fee, so every dollar goes toward flying and the funds never expire. There is no monthly management fee, no annual fee, no fuel surcharge and no taxi time charge. Your initial rate is protected for 24 months. Fractional ownership begins with the purchase of a share, from 6.25 percent, on the same day rate model.
- Are private jets safe? Safety comes down to the operator rather than the aircraft. flyExclusive holds its own certificate, employs its own full-time pilots and maintains its own fleet. We have held ARGUS Platinum every year since 2015, alongside Wyvern Wingman. Fewer than five percent of U.S. charter operators hold that combination. When you compare programs, ask who holds the certificate and who employs the crew.
- Can I bring my dog on a private jet? Yes, and pets are genuinely welcome. For plenty of our members, the dog is the reason they fly private in the first place.
- Can I switch programs later? Yes. It's common for people to move between programs as their travel needs change, and flyExclusive makes that easy. Charter, Jet Club, and fractional ownership all use the same fleet and the same crews, so your experience stays consistent no matter which one you choose.
